The first trailer for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is here, and it offers a lot of teases about the next leg of Jesse Pinkman's (Aaron Paul) journey after his big escape from the compound at the end of Breaking Bad. Perhaps the most intriguing thing about the preview, however, is the mysterious voice we hear at the end, asking a cleaned-up Jesse Pinkman, "You ready?"
We can't be sure, of course, since we don't get to see his face, but the voice seems to match that of actor Robert Forster, who portrayed Ed, the ostensible vacuum repair guy whose shop was also a front for his secondary profession as a "disappearer." Ed was the one who transported Walter White (Bryan Cranston) to New Hampshire and arranged for Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) to start his new life managing a Cinnabon in Nebraska. (It's also worth noting that Forster was one of the many actors rumored to be making a comeback in the film, based on set leaks.)
Of course, we have to consider other possibilities. It's possible that the voice belongs to Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) or Walter White, who's almost certainly going to appear in some kind of flashback — it doesn't sound quite like either of them in the trailer, but trailers can be deceiving. It could also be someone we don't already know. But if it is our old pal Ed, then judging by the smirk on Jesse's face when he answers that question in the affirmative, maybe this is a sign he's going to make it out of his apparent revenge mission in one piece.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie premieres on Netflix on Friday, Oct. 11. The film will also be screened for three days at 68 movie theaters across the country, including locations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Albuquerque.
El Camino will air on AMC sometime in early 2020.
