Clear eyes, full cast!
McAdams, Kitsch, and Reilly join the previously announced Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in the hashtag-inspiring second season. Set in California, Season 2 of the anthology drama will follow three police officers and a career criminal as they navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. Farrell plays conflicted cop Ray Velcoro, whose allegiances are torn between the corrupt police department and the mobster—Vaughn's Frank Semyon—who "owns" him.
As first reported in September, McAdams will play the lead female role. HBO describes her character, Ani Bezzerides, as a Ventura County detective whose uncompromising ethics "often put her at odds with others and the system she serves."
Kitsch's involvement in Season 2 dates all the way back to July, when rumors of his casting (and Farrell's) first hit the web. Kitsch will play a war veteran and police officer named Paul Woodrugh who works for the California Highway Patrol and is running from his troubled past and "the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened." Kitsch confirmed his own casting last month.
Finally, Reilly (whose casting was first rumored in late October) will play Jordan, the wife of Vaughn's character. She's a former D-list actress who shares her husband's ambitions. She's also "a full partner in his enterprises," which he was trying to turn legitimate before his partner was murdered.
HBO still hasn't confirmed the casting of Abigail Spencer, Levin Rambin, and Michael Irby, all of whom reportedly joined the cast alongside Reilly.
