The Resident, which is nearing the end of its second season, stars Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, Bruce Greenwood, and Malcolm-Jamal Warner as the doctors of Chastain Park Memorial Hospital who must learn to navigate the often complicated relationship between practicing medicine and the financial interests of the hospital system.
In a statement, Fox's Entertainment President Michael Thorn said of the series, "Amy Holden Jones, Todd Harthan, and the team behind The Resident continue to showcase their brilliant storytelling, revealing both the triumphs and tragedy within the medical world. Matt Czuchry, Emily VanCamp, and Bruce Greenwood, along with the stellar cast, have developed rich and compelling characters through their heartfelt performances."
9-1-1, which Fox credits as its No. 1 drama, is a high-octane procedural series that centers on the trials and triumphs of first responders both on and off the job. The series was created by TV power team Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear and stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
Of 9-1-1, Thorn said that the show "redefined what a procedural series can be, consistently delivering edge-of-your-seat emergencies, mixed with emotional story arcs and incredible performances from one of the most powerful teams of actors on television."
The Resident and 9-1-1 air back to back on Mondays at 8/7c and 9/8c, respectively, on Fox.
