Geoffrey Owens, the former Cosby Show star who became an internet sensation last week when photos of him working at a Trader Joe's went viral and provoked an outpouring of support for him (and all creative people working day jobs to make ends meet) has gotten an acting job out of the ordeal. TMZ reports that Owens will recur on OWN's show The Haves and the Have Nots.

During Owens' viral moment, The Haves and the Have Nots creator Tyler Perry tweeted "#GeofferyOwens I'm about to start shooting OWN's number one drama next week! Come join us!!!" That wasn't an idle offer, and Owens has booked a ten-episode recurring arc on the soapy crime drama and will start shooting next week.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Owens said that he didn't want to book acting jobs because people felt sorry for him, he wanted to get booked because he was right for the part. And it seems like he's getting his wish, because it got Tyler Perry to remember him and realize he'd be perfect for The Haves and the Have Nots.

Fox News and the Daily Mail's attempts to embarrass Owens for working at Trader Joe's were cruel, but it ended up working out all right for him. He got millions of people all over the world on his side and then he got a job. Seems like a happy ending to me.

The Haves and the Have Nots airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on OWN.
