Let the Emmys race begin!

The nominations for the 71st annual Primetime Emmy Awards are here, and co-presenters D'Arcy Carden (The Good Place, Barry) and Ken Jeong (Dr. Ken, The Masked Singer) announced quite a few surprises among this year's honorees on Tuesday morning.

Perhaps not surprising is that Game of Thrones led the list with 32 nominations, setting an Emmy nominations record. The HBO series earned a best drama nod, as well as nominations for stars Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage, Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and others. The series also got nods for writing and directing, including the proposed nominations that made us chuckle a bit.

Some of our top picks in the comedy categories, like Fleabag and Schitt's Creek were finally given some much-deserved recognition after having such stellar showings this year, and even a few cool newcomers to the streaming scene like Russian Doll and Dead to Me got a few well-earned nods. Television Academy Favorites like This Is Us and Barry were also heavily nominated this year.
