Not that it should come as a shock, but black-ish is officially renewed for Season 6!

ABC announced Thursday that the dramedy will return for another year. But that's not all! The network also announced it will be expanding the black-ish universe by adding yet another spin-off to the franchise (grown-ish airs on Freeform) called mixed-ish. This new series is a prequel and is based on Rainbow Johnson's (Tracee Ellis Ross) experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the '80s.

The show will address the complicated dilemmas inherent in being part of a mixed race family, like whether to assimilate or stay true to yourself. The series will also focus on Bow and her siblings navigating a mainstream school experience after their parents move them from a hippie commune to the suburbs. The series stars Arica Himmel as Bow Johnson, Tika Sumpter as Alicia Johnson, Christina Anthony as Denise, Mykal-Michelle Harris as Santamonica Johnson and Ethan Childress as Johan Johnson.
